Objective 3

February 2012 Management Team Report

Providing a report on the past month’s activities against the 8 key objectives of the organisation

Improving out-of-school play and recreational opportunities for local children and young people:

        1. Year 2012 priority is to maintain attendances at the Inters and Junior Clubs which we are achieving.  Young people are telling us of issues at Monday and Friday youth clubs but we are working with Sheffield Futures to iron these out.
        2. February half-term playscheme in planning and fingers crossed that the weather holds up for us.
        3. GHOL is still proving difficult and Wendy Furniss is now recording information on the old monitoring system used by YCS to enable an overview of performance and to ensure we are meeting our targets and KPIs.  SCC have now issued “Parental Consent Forms” and we are currently distributing these.  Wendy and some other colleagues are now raising the GHOL issue with local members.
        4. The Youth Shelter in Herdings Park was installed during the middle of January.  Young people are using it well and have extended many thanks to SCA and partners for their shelter.
        5. Wendy attended YCS meetings to discuss PAYP and KCD – it appears that the favoured option by SCC is to roll over the current KCD allocation to next year.  Wendy also attended a SCAP meeting and NAG meeting.
        6. Tracey Woodhead, a valuable and experienced playworker, left our project due to securing other full-time employment.
        7. Wendy held a full staff team meeting to review current provision and to discuss and encourage workers to think of ways of monitoring soft targets and outcomes, ie Social Accounting.  This meeting also looked at what we offer now and whether this is what is needed. The information gained compliments feedback already received from parents and young people.  Also, the information gathered at this meeting will inform some aspects, particularly the SMART targets, of the BBC Children In Need bid which will be submitted in April 2012.
