The Council Small Grants Fund is a simple, fast track grant scheme for projects that want to make a difference in their local community.  We are keen to fund small voluntary, community and self-help projects run by and for local people. We prioritise activities that:

You do not need to have a formal constitution or be a registered charity to apply but you do need to have a bank account in the groups name with a least two unrelated signatories.  In your application, you need to show that your project or group involves at least 15-20 people, aims to tackle a particular need and has a co-operative, partnership or self-help approach.

We fund a wide range of costs and activities.  Some frequently requested items are:

We do not give grants for food, costs for the benefit of individuals or groups with large unrestricted funds or a high annual income.
